Farewell Minnesota

Shovel then Rake? That's Weird.

We shoveled and built a snowman before we even a chance to rake this year. Thank goodness the weather warmed up again and some leaves finally fell of the trees and we had a chance to jump in the leaves.

By the way Delaney, your phrase du jour is "Oh, that's weird."

Cornbelly's Corn Maze

A few wrong turns but it didn't take us to terribly long to find our way out.

Slightly scary monsters but you didn't flinch.

One of your favorite activities of the day - driving the fire truck.

Silver Lake Hike

We spent a picturesque fall morning hiking around Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon followed by lunch at the Silver Fork Lodge. Today was definitely one of my Utah highlights so far.

Cuddles and Cartoons

We are finally figuring out our routine here in Utah and our mornings always start with some cuddles and cartoons with Linus. It's the perfect way to begin the day.

Go Utes!

Will we finally have a winning home team to cheer for? Time will tell but I will say, you do look good in red Delaney.

New Friends

Today we celebrated Wyatt's 2nd birthday at the zoo! You two had so much fun playing in the water fountain, riding the carousel and visiting the animals together. You make such fast friends Delaney!

Thank you CHMS

With new beginnings comes some difficult goodbyes. Today was your last day of school at Cathedral Hill Montessori. You have grown leaps and bounds since your first day here last summer. With the guidance of Clara and Juli, you have developed so many new skills and with your kindness and laughter you have fostered so many sweet friendships. If only we could take this wonderful community with us to Salt Lake.

Stuart's Fire Truck Party

Stuart invited us to celerate his 4th birthday with him at the St. Paul firestation. The firefighters gave us a tour of the station and even let you ride on their truck. It was thrilling to finally see a fire truck up close! We search for them each day on our way to school but rarely see one. Fun morning. Thanks Stuey!

Sanibel

Our much anticipated vacation to Sanibel Island with Nanny and Papa proved to be just the break we needed from this long Minnesota winter. Though the weather was less than ideal, it was such a relief to trade jackets and boots for t-shirts and sandals.

We started our mornings searching for shells on the beach followed by a trip to the playground in town. By late afternoon the sun had warmed the air and we trekked down the boardwalk to the beach. The waves crashing into the shore were a bit intimidating at first but your bravery surged by the end of the week and you took your first swim in the ocean! We spent a couple afternoons in the pool where your infectious giggle gained attention of a couple of older kids. Your kind and playful demeanor sure attract friends quickly!

Other highlights of our Sanibel trip included a Twins spring training game (you and I spent innings 3 - 9 napping under palm trees in the plaza), celebrating your second birthday (wow! I am so proud of my amazing daughter), and a trip to the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge (this adventure was notable for the lack of wildlife we saw as we wound our way through the park but we had some good laughs nonetheless).

A little family reprieve from the cold and snowy winter!

We celebrated your second birthday with cake and ice cream. More parties to follow when we return to Minnesota.

The highpoint of the Twins' spring training game was your post stroller nap popcorn snack.

Thanks for a fantastic time Sanibel Island. Perhaps will visit again some day.

Nanny and Papa

Thank goodness for Nanny and Papa! Minnesota winters are long but Nanny and Papa have done a fantastic job of keeping us entertained through these cold stormy months. Requests come daily to "go to nanny papa's house." If we spend any more time there than we already do, we may as well take up official residence. Nothing tops snuggling with Nanny or outdoor time with Papa.

Be Like You

Yes, I had Nanny crochet me a had exactly like yours. Perhaps now a little bit of your persistence and great wonder of our world will wear off on me. You are amazing Delaney!
